4 invalidates the name associated with the shader object specified
5 by <em class="parameter"><code>shader</code></em>. This command effectively
6 undoes the effects of a call to
7 <a class="citerefentry" href="glCreateShader.xml"><span class="citerefentry"><span class="refentrytitle">glCreateShader</span></span></a>.</p><p>If a shader object to be deleted is attached to a program
8 object, it will be flagged for deletion, but it will not be
9 deleted until it is no longer attached to any program object,
10 for any rendering context (i.e., it must be detached from
11 wherever it was attached before it will be deleted). A value of
12 0 for <em class="parameter"><code>shader</code></em> will be silently
13 ignored.</p><p>To determine whether an object has been flagged for
14 deletion, call
15 <a class="citerefentry" href="glGetShader.xml"><span class="citerefentry"><span class="refentrytitle">glGetShader</span></span></a>
16 with arguments <em class="parameter"><code>shader</code></em> and
17 <code class="constant">GL_DELETE_STATUS</code>.</p></div><div class="refsect1" lang="en" xml:lang="en"><a id="notes"></a><h2>Notes</h2><p><code class="function">glDeleteShader</code> is available only if
18 the GL version is 2.0 or greater.</p></div><div class="refsect1" lang="en" xml:lang="en"><a id="errors"></a><h2>Errors</h2><p><code class="constant">GL_INVALID_VALUE</code> is generated if
19 <em class="parameter"><code>shader</code></em> is not a value generated by
20 OpenGL.</p><p><code class="constant">GL_INVALID_OPERATION</code> is generated if
21 <code class="function">glDeleteShader</code> is executed between the
22 execution of
23 <a class="citerefentry" href="glBegin.xml"><span class="citerefentry"><span class="refentrytitle">glBegin</span></span></a>
24 and the corresponding execution of
